A credible private-sector anchor for Burundi's food systems
Orora Agro Group works with banks, development-finance institutions, impact investors, government entities, NGOs, equipment suppliers and technical partners around a single, integrated agro-industrial platform — anchored by poultry and built on installed industrial assets at the Ex-ALCOVIT site.
- Integrated model
- Installed assets
- Poultry-anchored
- Recognised standards

The investment thesis
Burundi imports a significant share of the compound feed and animal protein its market consumes, while installed industrial capacity sits underused. Orora Agro Group addresses this gap with an integrated, vertically coordinated model — feed, modern poultry and structured producer inclusion — rather than a single isolated activity. Integration is the thesis: reliable feed underpins poultry productivity, poultry anchors demand and cash flow, and a structured producer network extends reach without diluting standards.
We build from installed industrial assets at the Ex-ALCOVIT site in Bujumbura's Quartier Industriel, which lowers the cost and time-to-operation compared with greenfield development. The plan is deliberately sequenced — poultry first as the immediate anchor, with further value chains following the proven core rather than ahead of it. This is a commercial proposition with genuine national food-security relevance: a disciplined execution plan, not promises ahead of proof.
For institutional partners, the relevant question is governance and standards. Orora is built to operate to the standards expected by government and development-finance institutions — biosecurity, veterinary supervision, animal welfare, and environmental and social safeguards designed in from the start, with transparent monitoring. The remaining detail — financial structure, capacity and projections — is shared on a confidential basis through a structured data room.
Who we partner with
Different institutions engage Orora in different ways. Each pathway begins with a focused technical exchange and, where relevant, controlled access to a confidential data room.

Veterinary, nutrition, biosecurity and agronomy expertise, plus producer training and extension contributed by technical partners.

Co-designed programs that connect smallholders to the platform as active commercial partners, with attention to gender and youth.
→Why partners trust the model
The qualities institutional partners look for, designed into Orora from the outset.
Integrated value chains
Feed, poultry and producer inclusion are coordinated as one platform, so productivity, demand and standards reinforce each other rather than depending on a single fragile link.
Installed industrial assets
Building from the Ex-ALCOVIT site reduces cost and time-to-operation, and reactivates underused national industrial capacity rather than starting from scratch.
Poultry-anchored sequencing
Poultry is the immediate anchor of demand and cash flow; further value chains follow the proven core, keeping the plan disciplined and de-risked.
Professional systems & standards
Biosecurity, veterinary supervision, animal welfare, and environmental and social safeguards are operating standards, with transparent monitoring throughout.
